Yesterday, we were there taking out an old root ball getting the site ready.

Big Rig is getting cleaned up for the equipment...

The little telehandler is being steam-cleaned... lookin' good!

Generally speaking, it is that size, 24" box, that is perfect for homeowners. The trees are full and green and just beautiful while making it easier for installation.
Although he wanted larger box specimens, like a 36" or 42" box,  the larger boxes won't fit down the side of his home as well as most homes.

I was taking a walk around the palm farm this morning and was so impressed by our gorgeous Kentia palms! They have such an elegant look with the soft feathery leaves, and rich green and tan trunk.

If you are not familiar with this palm here is some additional information to get you started:

Howea Forsteriana, otherwise known as the "Kentia Palm" or "Sentry Palm" is a moderatly slow growing single trunked tropical palm. The trunk gets about 6'' in diameter, is swollen at the base, with spaced rings, and has a green to tan coloration when at maturity. The leaf crown of the mature palms is usually 20 feet wide and 12 to 15 feet tall. The Kentia is a friendly palm in that it has no thorns or harsh leaves to disrupt your garden or landscape. They can be a full sun and also shade palm, coastal or inland as well.

You can grow them in pots, planters, open spaces and even grow them indoor!

We are digging a couple of holes at the farm today to accommodate some new Canary Island Date Palms!

There are so many customers that don't really understand the amount of dirt that comes out of

a hole! Here, we show you plus all the things buried in the soil! We have rocks and rocks here at the farm but at a homeowner's? We pull out old bones, old plumbing, rocks, mix of trash and of course dirt and sand. 

THE HOLE IS 8' BY 8' BY 8' WHICH MEANS 512 CUBIC FEET. IT'S HARD TO UNDERSTAND THAT CUBIC FEET SO HERE ARE PILES SO YOU CAN SEE!

A MACHO DACTYLIFERA!  FROM THE PHOENIX FAMILY OF PALM TREES.

Macho Camacho, the awesome champion boxer, had 79 fights with 45 wins by knock-out! His 5'7" stand was fierce.  You can see why I nick-named this palm tree after such a great fighter!

What is a Macho Dact or Dactylifera? It's a male dactylifera palm tree that has a fatter and more robust trunk. It has a larger trunk than the standard female dactylifera.

How does this palm tree associate with Macho Camacho?
These Palm trees are fierce! These Palm trees are unique! These Palm Trees can take a punch and come back for more! 

These bad boys are used at our farms to pollinate the females for more amazing palm trees. So, these boys are premium trees that we usually don't sell.
