Well the warm seasons definitely remind us why we live in southern California! The palm trees are loving it and seem to be growing like weeds!!
Just the other day I went to measure our 'Caryota Gigas' (giant fishtail palm) and they had grown almost two feet from last year! The tallest one is 8 feet already!
Its amazing what a little water, fertilizer, sun and a little bit of TLC really does for our trees.
So when thinking about a tree that is different, grows moderately fast, and has a very unique and graceful look to it think about the Fishtail palm.

Here's the Plumosa Queen Palm with a definitely larger trunk than the normal Queen Palms. These beauties are specific to their breed. The robust trunks are similar in size to the Phoenix Dactylifera Date palm but with a beautifully smooth trunk.

Easy to grow with a striking appearance, Triangle Palm excels for use in landscapes. With it's unique arrangement of blue green leaves gives a bold and formal appearance. It gets its name from the bulging leaf or frond bases that grow to form a distinct 3-sided triangle shape.
All of our Triangle Palms are field grown in the rich, fertile soil of the Pauma Valley in Northern San Diego County at the base of Mt. Palomar. The Pauma Valley farm is our largest growing location of palms, and these palms can weather conditions down to 20 degrees and handle snow from Mt. Palomar a few weeks out of the year.
With these varying temperatures, we can supply cold, hardy palm trees to the Northwestern and Southeast states.

Sometimes it is difficult to see the height of a palm and know the sizing. Especially when you are looking at your landscape and trying to figure out what height is best.
So today, I video taped a 12 to 14 foot Canary. It's robust and gorgeous! The trunk is four feet in diameter and has been cut in the famous Diamond Cut with the pineapple top.
