The Cycas Revoluta, or commonly known as the Sago Palm, is a wonderful plant for both indoor and outdoor use. It looks great in the shrub border or as an accent on an expanse of lawn or near the patio. Use in entryways or in rock and sand gardens.
It mixes well with palms and combines well with border grass, podocarpus and camellias. The Sago Palm makes an excellent container plant for use outdoors and in the home. The Sago Palm tall trunk on older specimens, grows 8-10in diameter. It is more fern-like when small and produces offsets at base.
It grows in full sun or partial shade and require a well prepared, non-alkaline soil with good drainage.Once established, the Sago Palm is fairly drought tolerant, but still requires regular watering. The Sago Palm is a slow growing palm with up to 10 ft fronds spread 3-6 ft.
We have many sizes of Sago Palms from single trunk to multi-trunks specimens.Call us today if you would like to install some Sago Palm trees from Gregory Palm Farms to enhance the beauty and value of your home. (714) 814-8525 or (760)975-4605 http://gregorypalmfarms.com
Who can you trust when it comes to planting palms or removing palms?
GREGORY PALM FARMS!
Here is what Kevin said on YELP:
"I was nervous selling my Canary Palms. But Gregory Palm Farms followed through on all their promises. They paid upfront. They extract the palms carefully. Afterwards they fixed my sprinklers and backfilled the holes with quality soil. Gregory Palm Farms even planted two young Canary Palms to replace those they removed. Who does that?"

What is B and B in the palm and tree world? It means BAG and BALL.
Okay, so what does that mean?
If there are very large trees, normally, in transplanting it is easier and safer if the trees are wrapped in plastic or burlap when they are dug. When we Bag them, the earth is damp and it preserves the moisture during transportation and planting. It is also actually easier to manoeuvre around planters or buildings to the hole.
Originally, the bag was a burlap type and burried to decompose. Now, we use plastic to protect the moisture and roots.
We have sent many B and B palms to South Carolina and it's easier on the other end to remove them from the trucks.
The big specimens in boxes, they have to be gigantic boxes. are expensive which translates into more cost for the customer. And, it is better for them to root a bit in the boxes for awhile. The problem with many boxed specimen is this; Craning them up can rip their roots sending the tree or palm into distress. Many boxed trees have established root systems through the bottom of the boxes.
Digging, wrapping and out is a better and more successful process in transplanting.

What type of root system does a palm tree have?
Palm trees have ‘ fibrous root system.’ The roots of the Palm are not deeply rooted in the soil. Their root system is typically about six feet deep but have tendrils that spread out from there. Those tendrils are the reason the palms don't blow over in a high wind!
The roots spread over the soil like a mat and penetrate nearly 36 inches of topsoil and farther. We can even see these roots if the tree is planted in shallow soil.
Ever wonder why the roots are part of the trunk in some palms? It is an indication that the roots have hit bottom so to speak. If you are in a housing tract, the roots could hit the hard pan. The air roots don't hurt the palm, it is their way of growing when the bottom portion is limited! Pretty smart, right!
Palm tree roots have a preference for sandy soil which makes them easier to uproot.
If you have clay or rocky soil, dig a larger hole for installation for the root ball and fill it with a combination of sand and soil.
