Kevin saw the post and actually hung their hammock last night!
We installed these gorgeous Queen palm trees last year. We planted five palms approximately 10' apart to match his window treatment. The trees provide amazing shade and now...
A comfy afternoon retreat!
and the hammock is already occupied!!!
The beautiful blue flowers in background create a stunning and relaxing environment for a nice relaxing get away right in their own yard!
Simple answer, it depends what type of palm. Let's break it down.
A WASHINGTONIA ROBUSTA: This palm is bullet proof, California native and grows quicker than most. These beauties are about $35.00 per foot. The trunks are skinned and the tops are trimmed.
A QUEEN PALM: This palm has large sweeping fronds and a smooth trunk. These amazing palms are approximately $45.00 per foot. Trimmed and ready to go.
How about the Date palm family, such as the MEDJOOL DATE PALM? This palm is drought resistant, stiff fronds with a diamond cut trunk that is much narrower than a Canary Palm. These babies run about $150.00 per foot.
Now let's talk about the CANARY PALM: This show stopper with its huge trunk, stiffer fronds and pineapple top is about $1,000.00 per foot. Seriously, these are not only dinosaurs of the Palm world but evoke an awe-like state when seen... Breathingly beautiful palms!
We can go on and on with the different varieties of palms, but suffice it to say there are A LOT>
KING PALMS, MEDITERRANEAN FAN PALMS, MEXICAN BLUE PALMS, TRIANGLE PALMS, SAGO PALMS, BUTIA JELLY PALMS, MULTIPLE TRUNK PALMS... AND ON AND ON.
What is the best solution?

We had a customer come down all the way from Utah today to pick up some King palms and small date palms for their Shave ice business!! They wanted something tropical from Hawaii that would look exotic in the summer and provide shade. I know you are thinking... Utah?! It snows there and is cold in the winters! They picked King palms in 24'' and 30'' boxes that will be moved to an indoor nursery in the winter time to keep them nice and comfortable.
If you are looking for something tropical that is hardy and does well in the California area take a look at our Specimen King palms, Queen palms, Butia capitatas, Fishtail palms, Mediterranean fans, Canary's and more!!

IF YOU ARE REFERRING TO PALM PUPS AND NOT THE BARKING KIND, WE CAN HELP!
IF YOU ARE REFERRING TO PALM PUPS, THEY ARE THE SMALL PALMS GROWING AT THE BASE OF THE SAGO PALMS OR DATE PALMS.
Some people love the fullness of the pups around the base of the Sago palm, as shown here.
Others, prefer to have all the pups removed at the time of installation revealing only a textured trunk.
Either way, these Sago Palms are a perfect addition to any landscape and can be a wonderful container palms as well. They are slow growing and have a rich green colored fronds.
Each of those "pups" or small shoots are actually palms. If you plant them, they will grow!
