A WASHINGTONIA ROBUSTA: This palm is bullet proof, California native and grows quicker than most. These beauties are  about $35.00 per foot. The trunks are skinned and the tops are trimmed.

A QUEEN PALM: This palm has large sweeping fronds and a smooth trunk. These amazing palms are  approximately $45.00 per foot. Trimmed and ready to go.

How about the Date palm family, such as the MEDJOOL DATE PALM? This palm is drought resistant, stiff fronds with a diamond cut trunk that is much narrower than a Canary Palm. These babies run about $150.00 per foot.

Sometimes, Canary Palm owners prefer to have the more natural trunk design rather than the trimmed or skinned trunk design. The problem is, after time the fronds will fall off and the trunks look spotted or junky. Here, you can see that if you wait long enough, the fronds simply pull off! It's okay for a while, but then moisture could get in and damage the tree. Do yourself and your Canary Island Date Palm a favor, trim your palm.

Here’s a peek at what to expect when planting large palms!

Some of our Canaries weigh in excess of 6,000 pounds.  It takes our Telehandler with its powerful strength to lift these crown jewel of palm trees from the truck to its new location.

We need a lot of space to maneuver these large specimens in place. To park and unload is normally no easy job. A plan has to be calculated to determine how many trees, cranes, supplies, man power that we will need.  Sometimes, multiple truck loads are needed and even transfer trucks, to get the palm trees as close to the installation site as possible.

Safely secured, strapped and ready…

Lots of coarse sand to fill and pipes installed for proper air circulation ...

We recommend that the fronds remain tied up after transplant. This gives the palm tree extra support as it sends new roots for stability. It will take at least a month to insure a strong and straight crown once opened.

WHAT DO YOU DO WITH A GIANT ROOT BALL? GREGORY PALM FARMS 714-814-8525

 We dug this dead Canary out of a Newport Coast Customer's front yard! What we have is a 8'X4'root ball...giant! When they were digging it and pulling it out, the root system just kept going!

At the bottom of the hole, water, putrid water, sitting there! The poor Canary Island Date palm drowned!

There was a broken sprinkler pipe and for probably 6 to 9 months, the water poured into the hole and sat. 

What do we do with this giant root ball now? Normally, it would go to a landfill somewhere. We decided to bring it back to the farm. The landscaper was sure the tree was dying from Fusarium Wilt, it wasn't. 

What's next?

What is the weight of just the root ball... 8,000 pounds
