When it’s the dog days of summer being in the pool is the perfect escape! It’s cool now but not for long here in sunny California!

Do you need trees to accent your pool? Just like Peanut butter and Jelly, Palms are tropical and are perfect for around your pool. They create little to no mess as they are low maintenance. They are hardy enough to withstand the moisture and heat from a pool and possible chlorine spray that may come their way. Have you heard of the pony tail palm or Elephants foot palm? They are very slow growing, require very little water and make unique beautiful potted palms for indoors with the added benefit of natural air purification. Yes, palm plants help clean our air in our homes. Kentia Palms and pigmy palms also do great indoors given their slow growth rate. They thrive well with just indoor light and lower humidity. One of the finest of the dwarf palms, Pygmy Date Palm slowly reaches 6 to 12 feet in height and has an upright or curving, single trunk topped with a dense, full crown of gracefully arching, three-foot-long leaves. The insignificant flower clusters, hidden by the foliage, are present periodically throughout the year and produce small, jet-black dates which ripen to a deep red. Pygmy Date Palm is quite popular as a specimen planting or in containers, especially attractive at poolside. It is usually used as a single specimen although it is also effective in groups of three or more. This Native to Australia palm (We grow them from seed in Southern California!) is a fast grower but shorter compared to the Queen. Mature kings are cold tolerant and these amazing palms are self cleaning for super low maintenance. We have many specimens on the farm; doubles and triples! I love the tropical look these palms give!
