THIS SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO CANARY ISLAND DATE PALM WAS WORTH SAVING! IT'S A BIG AND BEAUTIFUL ONE! GREGORY PALM FARMS 714-814-8525

Hi!

We were at San Juan Capistrano to see this beautiful canary palm!

It was planted years ago and now it was growing right next to their fence (or one it actually) and shed. IT HAD TO GO.

IT'S A GREAT TREE IN A BAD LOCATION!

We saved this beautiful specimen...

BUT IT WASN'T EASY. NO CANARY PALM JOBS ARE EVER EASY!

HERE SHE IS! IN ALL HER GLORY, FOR ALL TO SEE!

Drought Tolerant Palms: The Jelly Palm (Their seeds make yummy jelly) at the Gregory Palm Farms (714) 814-8525. Canary Palms, Date palms, triangle palm

Hi!

EMAIL US AT GREGPALMS1@GMAIL.COM ANY QUESTIONS, APPOINTMENTS,                                         PRICING, HELP!     OPEN SATURDAY

5th-generation Gregory Palms farmer enjoys the shade of the Pindo palm (aka the Jelly palm, aka Butia palm).

The effects of many years of drought is quite obvious. All one has to do is drive through any suburban neighborhood in Southern California and they will see dying lawn after dying lawn. Apartment complexes and businesses plazas have put up signs asking their residents and patrons to excuse the appearance of their landscape while they make an effort to adhere to the water conservation policies.

So is there a light at the end of this dry and parched tunnel?

The answer is sort of. While we may not be able to perform rain dances to summon a downpour of clear, liquid gold, we can ease the suffering on our landscapes.

Replacing grass lawns and yards with drought-tolerant plants and trees not only helps efforts with conserving water but also makes that walk to your front doorstep a lot less depressing! Instead of using grass to cover your lawn, opt for rock or wood chips with succulents and other drought-friendly plants.

You can still have the luscious green yard without breaking the bank with water fines.

The Jelly palm (first picture above) is another great alternative for your lawn as it requires little watering. Its blue-green, recurved leaves will give any lawn a more exotic and island-like feel. It can withstand high temperatures as well as temperatures down to 10-degrees Fahrenheit.  It also produces a sweet/tart fruit that is great for making jellies and wine from.

Stay hydrated with Jelly palm wine and jelly!

CANARY ISLAND DATE PALM VERSUS PHOENIX DACTYLIFERA MEDJOOL DATE PALM - WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?- GREGORY PALM FARMS 714-814-8525 - WE ARE THE CANARY ISLAND DATE PALM DEPOT

Hi!

What is the difference between a Canary Island Date Palm and a Medjool Date Palm (in the Phoenix Dactylifera family)??

WHAT REALLY MATTERS IS WHERE IT'S GOING AND THE ACCESS TO GET IT THERE.

The Canary Island Date Palm are a one of a kind wonder! They are robust and gorgeous! A real statement to any landscape.

Below, an 18 foot Canary...

Below, 18 foot Medjool Date Palms.

We had to crane these Medjools over the house to the back yard.

However, the weight difference between a Canary Palm and a Medjool palm is a Canary Palm is FOUR times the weight of a Medjool: Canary 1,000 pounds per foot where the Medjool is about 250.

When you are talking about a crane,  up  in the air, over a house to the back of a property, A very large crane is needed. Simple math: heavy Palm, big crane bill.

What are you looking for?

What is your dream?

Let us help you find the perfect tree with the perfect installation.

Hi!

Mel and Janet came to the Palm Farm looking for a beautiful specimen palm to accent their backyard pool area.  As they looked around, they decided on a multi-trunk Mediterranean Fan Palm.  It was 10 feet tall and over 4 feet wide. A real beauty!!

Their only concern was the location and actually, more about the access. So, we drove over to their home and to see where the installation was planned. First of all, there wasn't any room for a crane.to hoist this bad boy to the back.  Secondly, there were a series of steps leading
                           A L L   T H E   W A Y  D O W N   T O   T H E   B A C K Y A R D.

                                           Hmmmmmm!!!

It's easy.... we will build a ramp!!

Yes, folks, we built a ramp!! A HUGE ramp!!

Now, that's what I call service!

The guys slid the giant palm tree down the ramp and used our palm dolly (4X4) to get it close to the planter's hole.

AND......

                                                IT'S IN!!!

DO YOU  HAVE A JOB THAT YOU THINK CAN'T BE DONE?

Phoenix Rupicola or Cliff Date Palms AT Gregory Palm Farms. MORE DELICATE THAN A CANARY PALM. WE HAVE THEM AT Gregory Palm Farms (714)814-8525 WE ARE THE CANARY DEPOT!

Hi!

Gregory Palm Farms has a great selection of palms including the Phoenix Rupicola palm also known as the Cliff Date Palm. This grand palm is a species of flowering plant in the Phoenix Palm family and usually occurs on cliffs, hillsides and similar terrain. It usually reaches a height of about 30 feet.

This palm is much more delicate in stature than a Canary Island Date Palm. Even though they look similar, this palm is perfect for planters because of its thinner trunk width.

Their growth rate is slow and when young, they do better in moderate sunlight, once they mature they are fine with full sunlight.

If you are in the market for these beautiful palms, Gregory Palm Farms is the place to come to. Give us a call at 714-814-8525 or visit us!

We hope you have a great day!

HI~

We are often asked how old a palm tree is. It's really fascinating because some palms are super slow growers while others are faster.

Take for example the Canary Island Date palm, pictured below.

To grow this Canary to 22 foot of heigth, it took 35 years!

Just think what you were doing 35 years ago. What an investment.

Did you see the Canary Palms in Beverly Hills? They are over 60 years old.

So, before you start whining about the price of these incredible palms,

remember, it took decades to grow! And you get to enjoy the splendour of these one of a kind beauties.

King Palms! These palms grow a foot and a half to two feet a year!

If you are looking at this 22' king palm? It has been growing for 11 years plus!

If you are looking for a really slow grower, the best is either the  Sable or Chilean Wine Palm.

Here is a baby Chilean Wine Palm (as in tasty Wine!) that has been growing from seed for 10 years!

They are robust, thick trunk with fronds that are stiff and gorgeous.

We have a 20' Chilean Wine Palm at the farm and that Palm has been growing for over 50 years!

Great Palm!

Here is the other slow growing palm, the Sabal Palmetto!

This beauty is 15' tall and has been growing at the farm for over 25 years.

The Sabal is a magnificent palm with a fan  type fronds.

It is strong and textured for an amazing accent to any landscape.
