HOW OLD ARE THOSE GIANT PALMS? HOW LONG DO THEY TAKE TO GROW? GREGORY PALM FARMS (714) 814-8525. OPEN DAILY - CALL THE PALM EXPERTS - WE ARE THE CANARY PALM DEPOT

HI~

We are often asked how old a palm tree is. It's really fascinating because some palms are super slow growers while others are faster.

Take for example the Canary Island Date palm, pictured below.

To grow this Canary to 22 foot of heigth, it took 35 years!

Just think what you were doing 35 years ago. What an investment.

Did you see the Canary Palms in Beverly Hills? They are over 60 years old.

So, before you start whining about the price of these incredible palms,

remember, it took decades to grow! And you get to enjoy the splendour of these one of a kind beauties.

King Palms! These palms grow a foot and a half to two feet a year!

If you are looking at this 22' king palm? It has been growing for 11 years plus!

If you are looking for a really slow grower, the best is either the  Sable or Chilean Wine Palm.

Here is a baby Chilean Wine Palm (as in tasty Wine!) that has been growing from seed for 10 years!

They are robust, thick trunk with fronds that are stiff and gorgeous.

We have a 20' Chilean Wine Palm at the farm and that Palm has been growing for over 50 years!

Great Palm!

Here is the other slow growing palm, the Sabal Palmetto!

This beauty is 15' tall and has been growing at the farm for over 25 years.

The Sabal is a magnificent palm with a fan  type fronds.

It is strong and textured for an amazing accent to any landscape.

Sago Palm aka Cycas revoluta

We have incredible specimens that are eye dropping, eye stopping, eye blinking and just eye bulging-ly beautiful sago palms.

A species of gymnosperm in the family Cycadaceae, native to southern Japan including the Ryukyu Islands. It is one of several species used for the production of sago, as well as an ornamental plant.

This very symmetrical plant supports a crown of shiny, dark green leaves on a thick shaggy trunk that is typically about 20 cm in diameter, sometimes wider.

The trunk is very low to subterranean in young plants, but lengthens above ground with age. It can grow into very old specimens with 20 feet of trunk; however, the plant is very slow-growing and requires about 50–100 years to achieve this height.

Trunks can branch multiple times, thus producing multiple heads of leaves.

Most of the time, customers or developers are on site when they see the palms installed.

However, rarely do people get to see the work it takes to remove palm trees from the ground.

As you can see here it take machinery and lots of man hours.

So the next time you see a palm, respect its beauty.

DID YOU SEE THAT METEOR SCREAMING TO EARTH FROM THE HEAVENS? THE GREGORY PALM FARMS (714) 814-8525/760)975-4605 PALM TREES, ALL PALMS

 HI!

LAST NIGHT, WE WERE STAR GAZING AND SAW A SHOOTING STAR THAT TRAVELED FOR A LONG DISTANCE.

IN THE MORNING, HERE IS WHAT WE FOUND!

A LARGE HOLE THE SAME SHAPE AS A METEOR!

WAS IT A METEOR HITTING THE EARTH AT OUR PALM FARM?

WE LOOKED AROUND. HMMMM.

STRANGE THINGS HAPPEN AT NIGHT IN THE COUNTRY....

I SOLVED THE DILEMMA...

THIS HOLE IS THE RESULT WHEN THE PALM  TREE IS DUG AND EXTRACTED FROM THE EARTH.

WE WILL PUT A BABY PALM IN AND WATCH IT GROW.

BUT HEY, IT COULD HAVE BEEN A METEOR! A TINY METEOR! HAHAHA
