The McFadden Center in Santa Ana has a new look thanks to Gregory Palm Farms. All the old liquid amber trees were removed and replaced with 11 new Phoenix Dactylifera Medjool Palms.

This gave the center an "instant face lift". The Phoenix Dactylifera Date Palms are probably the second most well-known palm after the coconut and this palm produces dates. However, despite this palm being extremely adaptable to differing growing conditions; from hot, dry deserts, to wet tropics, and  the  cold-temperate regions, it will only produce dates in the hot, dry climates. It is also very salt-tolerant, making it good for coastal planting.
These trees were the perfect fit for the McFadden Center. Now the center looks clean and up-to-date.

The Blue Hesper Palm is a famous hardy blue palm from Mexico. Stiff, fan shaped leaves of a stunning pale  blue colour. Conservatory, or sunny spot in the garden. Well drained soil, plenty of water in summer, rather drier in winter, when it can withstand -10ºC or so when larger. It is much happier, and faster growing when  planted in the ground. The Cycas Revoluta, or commonly known as the Sago Palm, is a wonderful plant for both indoor and outdoor use. It looks great in the shrub border or as an accent on an expanse of lawn or near the patio. Use in entryways or in rock and sand gardens.

It mixes well with palms and combines well with border grass, podocarpus and camellias. The Sago Palm makes an excellent container plant for use outdoors and in the home.

The Sago Palm tall trunk on older specimens, grows 8-10in diameter. It is more fern-like when small and produces offsets at base.It grows in full sun or partial shade and require a well prepared, non-alkaline soil with good drainage. Once established, the Sago Palm is fairly drought tolerant, but still requires regular watering. The Sago Palm is a slow growing palm with up to 10 ft fronds spread 3-6 ft.

Gregory Palm Farms has some rare Phoenix rupicola palms also known as Cliff Date Palms.

The Cliff Date Palm is a species of flowering plant in the Palm family, native to the mountainous forests of India and Bhutan, usually occurring on cliffs, hillsides and similar terrain. It has long, arching, bright green leaves which are self-cleaning. The fronds are on an upright axis that hand as the tree matures. Will tolerate full sun when mature.

Typical trees usually only reach a height of about 30 feet, but some hybrids have been noted at over 70 feet.

Cliff Date Palm Characteristics
Stem/Trunk	Single, smooth, thin trunk, which gives it a much neater appearance than other species of Phoenix.
Exposure	Sun to partial shade
Soil	Tolerant of most well drained soils.
Water	Average Water Needs; Water regularly; do not overwater
