We blog a lot about specimen palms however, maybe you don't really understand the term...
Canary Palm

Above are only a few! A Specimen Palm is a palm or a groupings of palms that have grown together or in a special way or the heigh and caliber is rare.
For example, a 'hurricane' palm look is a specimen that was pushed down when young and has grown upwards since then. This method creates a curved trunk, which by the way, are wonderful accents around pools or an area where you want a palm but they have to grow away from a structure.
Another example is of a 'cluster' of palms that normally don't cluster naturally. We have these in Washingtonia Robustas, Queen Palms, King Palms, Date Palms and believe it or not, in Canary Island Date palms as well! They give the landscape a dramatic and full accent.
One more example of a specimen is the height! A giant Canary Island Date palm or Washingtonia Robusta to match existing palms or for a parking structure like the ones we put in Irvine Spectrum are specimen palms! Those Washingtonias were 45 feet tall!

This palm has multiple trunks naturally. So each Reclinata has its own personality and growth.
Cost for this specimen palm? $2,500.00. It has five trunks from 4 to 5 feet tall. Each Reclinata has natural growing multiple trunks so each palm creates its own design.

Interested in edible Fruit Palms? Aside from the popular Medjool date palms theres edible fruit produced from the Jelly palm too. They are not only edible but delicious. Its flavor is compared to the Apricot. The fruit has a lot of pectin so it’s perfect for making jelly, hence the name. If you have shoots or pups or growths (whatever you want to call them) coming out the side of your Date Palm, make sure you cut them out. You can actually replant them or use for mulch.
If you don't get rid of these little suckers, they trunks become deformed and out of control. Which is the look you like?
