Hi palm fans,
Did you know that Windmill palms actually prefer the shade verses too much sun? These are known for their super cold hardiness tolerating as low as 10 degrees Fahrenheit. They can be planted up the East coast as far as Virginia. They do great with salt spray and grow very slow, averaging less than 8 inches per year. They require very little pruning and stay compact making them great for containers if preferred. These palms are wonderful if you have a smaller yard or patio that you want to bring that tropical feeling too!

We love our Date palms! These littler ones pictured here are 15 gallon but they make perfect pretty potted indoor plants and do grow to be much bigger for smaller outdoor spaces! Cool little fun fact about Date palms is Pygmy Dates, the Senegal Date Palm and the Phoenix Dactylifera Date palm all produce edible dates! Yes the smaller dates are more bitter and not so palatable like the Phoenix Dates but they are edible!

Some palms multiply on their own, such as the Phoenix Reclinata (shown above and below) or the Mediterranean Fan Palm. The palms you do not want to multiple is ANY Date palm. Those "pups' or "sucker" or "seedlings" will damage the trunk making it unsightly.
