The Canary Island Date Palm is a luxury symbol throughout the world. Its massive size and long, luscious fronds immediately remind you of a tropical island south of the equator. These palms can grow anywhere from 33-66ft (10-20m) in height with fronds that can reach 20ft long (6m).

Although, these palms can reach a towering height, they are also known for being a slow-growing palm. In average, they grow less than 12 inches in a year, allowing anyone with a modest yard size to still enjoy the shade of its feather-like fronds.

Kentia Palms, one of the most elegant of the palms. Perfect for Southern California. Can adapt to full sun or be grown in partial sun. Great when grouped as two to five plants. A very graceful, solitary, medium sized palm, with a dark green ringed trunk, to about 10m tall. It has beautifully drooping, dark green leaflets, and a brown hessian like thatch around the leaf bases. Kentia Palm Characteristics Stem/Trunk: The trunk is swollen at the base and has slightly raised annular trunk rings. Hi!

We were in Mission Viejo yesterday for an installation.

The obstacles were many!

 Between the narrow entrance to the back yard, the plumbing/irrigation holes/trenches, 

the cement work for the pool and the plain ole access, made this job tougher and bit more stressful.

BEFORE

This is the tiny access we had to bring a 5,000 pound Phoenix Dactylifera Date palm

AND

the equipment that is needed for the planting. 

We managed to do it anyway!!!!

One and then two...

AFTER

We got it in there and saved all the flatwork with layers of plywood and our technical equipment - ran by our awesomely talented driver, Kevin!
