This Native to Australia palm (We grow them from seed in Southern California!) is a fast grower but shorter compared to the Queen. Mature kings are cold tolerant and these amazing palms are self cleaning so super low maintenance. We have many specimens on the farm; doubles and triples! I love the tropical look these palms give and they are amazing next to or around swimming pools. Summer will be here before you know it. Self cleaning? You betcha. The fronds fall off when they are ready for the recycle tub. No pruning or extra cost for its upkeep.

Gregory Palm Farms has many sizes of the Windmill palm also known as Trachycarpus Fortunei. The Windmill Palm is great for indoor and outdoor landscaping and can withstand hot and cold climates.They are easily identified with their "hairy" trunks. Those fibres insulates the tree during those extreme weather patterns.
It is a single trunk palm that can reach 8-10 feet when mature. All it needs is well drained soil, partial shade and adequate moisture!

The Windmill palm makes a great accent which fits well into small areas like courtyards and entries. It is a tough plant and survives in both hot & cold urban landscapes and even thrives in Northern California and Washington climates.
Windmill palm is perfect for containers if care is taken that they are well drained. It is very attractive planted in groves and groupings especially when plants of different heights are staggered in irregular patterns.
Windmill Palm Characteristics
Stem/Trunk: Single stem that is 8-10" in diameter.Trunks are usually covered with a loose mat of coarse gray or brown fiber.
Exposure: Partial shade is best, also cold hardy
Soil: Well drained soil
Water: Adequate moisture makes for rapid growth and best appearance but it is amazingly drought tolerant
Growth Rate: Moderate - 30'-40' height
