ON THE LEFT, Phoenix Dactylifera Date Palm - thinner head of fronds and the fronds are straighter.
While ON THE RIGHT, the Medjool Date Palm- fuller head with slightly curved fronds. The color is almost the same with the Medjool having a tint more blue.

Phoenix Dactylifera aka Date Palm
Date Palms are probably the second most well-known palm after the coconut , this palm produces dates. However, despite this palm being extremely adaptable to differing growing conditions, from hot, dry deserts, to wet tropics, and thru to cold-temperate regions, it will only produce dates in the hot, dry climates. It is also very salt-tolerant, making it good for coastal planting.

Hi everyone!
Well the warm seasons definitely remind us why we live in southern California! The palm trees are loving it and seem to be growing like weeds!!
Just the other day I went to measure our 'Caryota Gigas' (giant fishtail palm) and they had grown almost two feet from last year! The tallest one is 8 feet already!
Its amazing what a little water, fertilizer, sun and a little bit of TLC really does for our trees.
So when thinking about a tree that is different, grows moderately fast, and has a very unique and graceful look to it think about the Fishtail palm.

What is a Sable Palm?
It's a very large palm that grows extremely slow. These specimens in the video are over 30 years old.
They have fronds that hang and curl downward giving them a unique look. Their trunks are typically cut criss-cross design for that real woodsy feeling. Did I say these palms are slow growers? Yes, they are!
