Mexican Fan Palm
The leaves have a petiole up to 3.3 ft long, and a palmate fan of leaflets up to 3.3 ft long. The inflorescence is up to 9.8 ft long, with numerous small pale orange-pink flowers.
Mexican Blue Palm
"Icy" Blue-green & very waxy. Size: About 6 to 8 ft. wide, and segmented 3 to 4 ft. long!!
Canary Island Date Palm
The leaves are pinnate, 13–20 ft long, with 80–100 leaflets on each side of the central rachis.
Livistona Palm
It is crowned with dark, glossy green leaves on petioles 6.6 ft long. It has leaves plaited like a fan; the cabbage of these is small but sweet. In summer it bears flower spikes with sprigs of cream-white flowers. In winter, the trees accumulate dead fronds or leaves, which usually need to be removed by a arborist.

For me, coming to work everyday at Gregory Palm Farms is like escaping to my own private little island. , GPF has the paradise vibe minus the tourists and overpriced Pina Coladas. It can be easy to forget that these gorgeous palms are a part of a business and not just here for us to admire. With the largest palm tree inventory in southern California, the Gregory Family takes pride in the palms they grow.
And it shows. Every time I need to grab something that's across the farm, I take the more scenic route to my destination. The shade and slight breeze of the palm fronds towering above, soothes me and any stressors of the day are quickly reduced to a minimum. At times, it really makes me wish I had a bigger yard so I could plant a Canary palm or a couple of Queen Palms and just lounge in a hammock with a good book. That would be all the therapy anyone would ever need!
Walking through this area reminds me of LACMA's light pole exhibit but with more nature!
But what makes this palm farm so unique besides the fact that the Gregory's grow each of their palms, is the variety. It's like walking through an exotic three-dimensional collage of palms. From short to tall, Sago to Canary, the Gregory's have spent decades growing a wide collection of palms that is unlike any other I have yet to see at Pauma Valley Farm.
Hard to believe this little road doesn't lead off to a sandy beach somewhere.

Hi!
We were in Mission Viejo yesterday for an installation.
The obstacles were many!
Between the narrow entrance to the back yard, the plumbing/irrigation holes/trenches,
the cement work for the pool and the plain ole access, made this job tougher and bit more stressful.
BEFORE
This is the tiny access we had to bring a 5,000 pound Phoenix Dactylifera Date palm
AND
the equipment that is needed for the planting.
We managed to do it anyway!!!!
One and then two...
AFTER
We got it in there and saved all the flatwork with layers of plywood and our technical equipment - ran by our awesomely talented driver, Kevin!

It's better to plant the palm trees before the cement work!

We are almost done with the job in Yorba Linda.
Our trusty JCB Telehandler is on the job with Kevin.
The trees are at different levels of the landscape but they have to match in height.
What to do?
Even though the second tree is 4' higher than the first tree, they will look great when he is finished!!!
