Pasadena Historical Home Gets a Palm Tree Upgrade by Gregory Palm Farms (714) 814-8525 949)610-6624. WE DO PALMS RIGHT!

Gregory Palm Farms was recently awarded the contract to upgrade this historical house in Pasadena.
So, we got to work, quick fast like!
First, we removed a large pine tree in the front yard. All that debris! wow!! We replaced it with a beautiful, mature Canary Island Date Palm Tree. We then added some Kentia Palms and Sagos to the front of the house. Lastly, we finished it off with Fan Palms and Triangle Palms in the backyard.

We were at a job and it was like coming home! HOW CAN THAT BE?
Well, up and down the street, were OUR palms. We had installed all the Canary Island
Date Palms, King Palms, Medjool Date Palms, Queen Palms, Mediterranean Fan Palms, Sago Palms and Triangle palms!! NOT ALL AT ONE HOUSE!
It was the entire neighbourhood that shined with our palm trees!
So, it was like going home. We were there so many times that coming back and seeing the growth of the palms was heartwarming!

Phoenix Dactylifera or Date palms are one of the most well known and sought after palm trees, not only for their dates but for their look as well. Your probably used to seeing the "dates" in the stores that are sweet and tasty, along with date shakes!! Date palms are very adaptable to different growing conditions, from hot, dry desserts, to wet tropics, to cold temperature regions. The Date Palm only produces edible dates in extreme hot environments. These palms also have a high salt tolerance making them an excellent choice for coastal planting as well.
These palms are usually planted in specimen sizes for an instant centerpiece, lining shopping center streets and courtyards, hotel entrances, house landscape and more. These are more affordable than that of the Canary Island date palms as well.
The date palms have a blue-ish hue to the leaves and have a woodsy dark diamond cut trunk.

The Pygmy Date Palm (Phoenix Roebelenii) is usually referred to as the miniature date palm, Robellini Palm, Miniature Date Palm. As a matter of fact, the specie is native to Southern China and is one of the most widely used landscape palms in the United States of America. Its small stature, slow growth, easy care and graceful crown have made it a popular accent plant in tropical settings. This breed of palm trees is one of the most adaptable palms for growing containers.

It is rather native to northern Laos, Vietnam, and southern China. The Palm has a slender trunk with old leaf scars. Reaching almost 4 feet in length, bright green leaves grow from the top of the trunk. Its arching stems are covered with 4 - 5 inch leaflets. The palm tree has stiff roots that easily break. It also produces creamy colored flowers that are followed by black dates.
General Care Tips
The pygmy palm is tough, and well conditioned for a tropical species. It is capable of withstanding temperatures slightly below freezing without suffering any damage; it makes a good candidate in zones 10 and 11. The cultural requirement most often neglected with this species is its moisture needs. This is because it is thirsty and needs constant and adequate water, sometimes capable of withstanding occasional flooding. It needs full sun and slightly acidic soil to thrive. If sufficient light is provided, it serves as an excellent choice for indoor growing. These palms are very thirsty! Make sure the water is accessible.
Cultivation
The Pygmy Palm requires full sun to partial shade to develop. It can tolerate temperatures as low as 20â,,?. It can grow up to 10 feet tall and can adapt to all kinds of soils. It can tolerate cold conditions as low as 20â,,? when they are mature enough. The Pygmy Palm is also drought tolerant but thrives better in moist and well drained soils.

Gregory Palm Farms makes house calls because often times, the customer needs more assistance and clarity while we need to see access before the final details of the purchase is made.
For example, we went to La Mesa's job and found the only efficient and safe way to install 6 Date Palms was up and over the house. That feature added about $2,500.00 to the purchase.
This situation is not the same!
At La Mesa, the desired location is in the front yard The planters are completed however with minimum cement curbing. And lasting, we are making sure the area is large enough to accommodate the palms of their choice and that is essential. They are and we will be install in a week!
What to do now? First, We Call DigAlert to make sure to hidden pipes we don't know about!
Next, We are prepping the palms, Medjool Dates and Triangle Palms, for delivery and installation.
