Sometimes, Canary Palm owners prefer to have the more natural trunk design rather than the trimmed or skinned trunk design. 

The problem is, after a time, the fronds fall off and the trunks will look spotted or junky. SEE BELOW

Here, you can see that if you wait long enough, the fronds simply pull off! It's okay for a while, but then moisture and bugs could get in and damage the tree.
