WHICH SHOULD I CHOOSE, A BLACK DATE PALM OR A CANARY ISLAND DATE PALM? Gregory Palm Farms (714)814-8525/760)975-4605 OPEN DAILY

WHICH SHOULD I CHOOSE?

Isn't it great to have options? The top video/photo is a  Giant Black Date Palm. This palm is a slow grower for the enjoyment for a very long time.  It's girth is 38" in diameter so it is just like the Canary Palm in width. The fronds are a tinge of blue that are stiff and strong.

The Canary Island Date Palm or Phoenix Canariensis is robust as well. The trunk basically the same width  however, the Canary has a distinctive "pineapple" top that the Back Date Palm can not duplicate. The fronds on a Canary are more sweeping and curved and are a true green!

My recommendation? They are both amazing palms! The Canary Palm is, to me, more graceful.
Either are a great addition to any landscape.
